Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa’s joint venture, SunExpress, has opted for the Boeing 737 MAX once again to continue its robust growth by expanding its fleet.
With an order of up to 90 Boeing aircraft, SunExpress plans to more than double its fleet over the next decade.
The agreement includes the purchase option for up to 28 Boeing 737-8 and 17 Boeing 737-10 model aircraft, totaling up to 45 737 MAX planes.
SunExpress CEO Dr. Max Kownatzki, commenting on the agreement, stated, “Following the successful strategy it pursued in the post-pandemic period, SunExpress is gearing up to accelerate its growth to meet market demand and have a broader international impact. By more than doubling our fleet over the next ten years, we aim to reach a fleet of 150 aircraft by 2033.”
Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stanley Deal remarked, “SunExpress continuing its preference for the 737 MAX reflects confidence in the aircraft’s ability to meet passenger demand to and from Turkey and other popular destinations. The 737 MAX has proven itself in the SunExpress flight network, creating value with its unique fuel efficiency and performance.”
