Speaking on World Immunization Week, Prof. Dr. Selim Badur, the Vaccine Scientific Advisor for Developing Countries at GSK, highlighted the benefits of vaccines for public health. Badur emphasized that vaccines are not only essential for children but also necessary for every age group when aiming for a healthy life.
Pointing out the significance of vaccination during childhood and the changes in the immune system throughout one’s life, Prof. Badur stated: “Considering the aging population worldwide, adult vaccination is equally critical for creating generations that age healthily and reducing the burden on the healthcare system. Especially for adults aged 50 and above, the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases is increasing along with declining immunity. Vaccines for adults not only prevent diseases but also signify healthy aging and maintaining a high quality of life.”
